Black Earth / White Sea

2019

 59.7cm x 42 cm, Ink on Paper

A self-portrait of both body and mind, evincing the Cartesian divide between our rational physical experiences and our nebulous mental lives. I was also very inspired by Kazimir Malevich, who once declared the realm of infinity as a “free white sea”. In some ways, this is my form of truth-seeking; it expresses the deep universe that I know exists and connects all of us beneath our thin epidermis, beyond the binaries of hate and fear, where we just might find ourselves as gods.
