Edwin Chen (b. 1997, Singapore) is a visual artist who uses ink on paper as his primary medium.

As an intimate and spiritual act, the portraits Edwin creates of himself and his loved ones are testaments of the bonds they share, and are a fundamental way of locating his sense of self in the world.

Naturally, he has also become deeply invested in harnessing art as a conduit for social change. He hopes to develop his practice into one that empowers underserved communities, bridges gaps in communities and across generations, and recollects forgotten histories.

Rooted in real stories, Edwin's art undercuts our shifting perceptions of reality with myth and phantasm. This transcendent queer world he creates celebrates vulnerability and collective transformation, seeking what it means to be truly human.

Edwin is currently in his final year as an Arts and Humanities Major at Yale-NUS College.
